Plus Size Yoga Clothes

Yoga is one of the top forms of exercise practiced today and for good reason. Yoga can help you become leaner, stronger, more flexible and even more relaxed. There are many different kinds of yoga including power yoga which provides a full cardio workout and hatha yoga which is more relaxed and focuses on the flow of breath and various postures. Plus size yoga clothes can be purchased at many stores these days and are very important for plus size women who want to start practicing this form of exercise.


While you will find clothes referred to as yoga clothes there is really no set dress requirements to participate. The most important thing is that you are comfortable and can move properly in what you are wearing. First there are yoga pants. Yoga pants should stretch and move with your body without being too loose or too tight. Some people do prefer shorts that are form fitting because many of the poses in yoga are inversions and pants legs may fall down when you are upside down. The same thing should be considered when choosing a top in which to practice yoga.

Sports bras are ideal for yoga practice, although if you are taking a class or going to the gym you will probably want more coverage. You can layer a form fitting tank over a sports bra for supportive comfort. Layering is a good idea in general because you don't know if you will get too hot when practicing. Bikram yoga is done in a hot room so for this style of yoga light clothing is imperative. What you should wear all depends on what kind of yoga you'll be doing, the temperature of the practice room and how comfortable you are with certain types of outfits.

In general, plus size yoga clothes should be form fitting and comfortable. You can find appropriate clothing at most any store that sells workout gear for plus size women. One thing you will not need to worry about when shopping for workout gear are your shoes because yoga is done with bare feet. You may want to find a decent pair of athletic shoes to get you to and from yoga class but the exercises themselves are performed barefoot.
